Game Menus
Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town
The game's menu screen can be accessed by pressing the X Button. There are six menus that display various information about your game. You can navigate to each menu by pressing the Left Shoulder or Right Shoulder buttons on your choice of controller.
Settings
This menu allows you to control some of the features in the game. The Game Settings allows you to control the overall Max Volume of the game, the background music (BGM) volume, and the volume of sound effects (SFX) such as the "dodododododo" that plays as text displays across the screen or the sound of your character's footsteps.
The Heart Icon option enables (on) or disabled (off) the visible heart markers for marriage candidate when you talk to them. Optionally, you can turn off the portraits that appear when talking to any villager in the game, though the character's name will still appear on the conversation dialog box.
The Guide Icons are little pop-up messages that appear when you are standing next to something you can interact with using the A Button such as a boulder (Examine), a door (Open), or villager (Talk). You can turn these hint boxes on or off.
The Field Cursor only appears when you are working in the field on your farm. This option enables either 2D Cursor square on the ground on your field to show the soil that will be affected by your actions, a 3D Cursor cube that will change size if you are next to a large object like a boulder or stump, or have no cursor at all by selecting the Field Cursor option to be Off.
Using tools or catching fish will cause your controller to vibrate. You can disable the game's controller vibration by moving the HD Rumble setting to Off.
The PC/Steam version of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town has additional setting options such as Display Mode, Resolution, Anisotropic Filter, Anti-Aliasing, Vsync, Shadow Type, and Depth of Field. These options can also be selected from the game's configuration launcher. The game's config launcher also permits you to select the language the game displays its text in: Japanese, English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified or Traditional), and Korean.
The Button Presets section in the Settings menu allows you to choose from a few configuration options in the Nintendo Switch version. In the PC/Steam version, players can map actions to keyboard controls or a separate controller.
Farm Information
The menu here will give you a quick overview of your game progress. This includes the farm name and current year in the game, your farmer's name, their current Farm Degree rank, their birthday, the number of power berries they have found, and how many of the 7 rings have been unlocked. You'll also see your family member's names; your relationship progress (hearts and music notes) are in the Relationships menu.
The right-side of the Farm Information menu covers how many animals are on your farm, the amount of Fodder and Chicken/Rabbit feed you have in storage, your current Field Level, and the amount of Lumber and Material Stone you have in total, whether in your farmhouse Cabinet or in your rucksack. The number of farm pet you own will be listed here too.
Items
This menu contains the contents of your rucksack. You can navigate to each item in your bag and read the item description listed at the bottom of the screen. Many items in your bag can be destroyed/trashed directly from your rucksack by pressing the Plus button on your controller, though some items cannot be destroyed such as the marriage candidate gifts, Truth Jewels, and so on.
If an item in your bag can be eaten, the amount of Stamina and Fatigue you'll recover will appear in the item description. You can also select the number of items to eat off the stack by pressing the Y button.
A single item can be popped off its stack by pressing the X Button.
Journal
Saving the game is done in the Journal menu. This is the default menu that opens after pressing the X Button. The journal holds up to eight save games. You can also load saved games from the Journal.
There is no method to manually delete a single save game entry that you don't want anymore from your Nintendo Switch. For the Steam/PC version, the save files are located in %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\SOSFoMT , where you'll find each save file numbered. File DPlaydata_0 will be the auto-save slot, DPlaydata_1 will be save slot 1, DPlaydata_2 will be save slot 2, and so on. When you have Steam Cloud Save system enabled under your account, your save files will automatically be backed up to the internet and travel with you from computer to computer. With the cloud save option enabled in your account settings, deleting any of the DPlaydata files will result in the save file downloading again via the Steam app the next time you launch the game.
Tools
Like the Items menu, the Tools menu will give detailed description of each tool you have in your rucksack. You can't delete or eat your tools, but you CAN see your current tool experience levels by pressing the Plus button. The experience level menu will display the current remodel level of the tool, the progress towards 100% tool strength, and if the tool can be upgraded at the Forge.
Tools can be upgraded once you reach the following minimum levels:
- 10% = Copper
- 28% = Silver
- 55% = Gold
- 100% = Mithril
Tool remodel levels can be skipped when a tool has reached the minimum percentage for the next rank. For example, if your Copper tool has 65% experience, then it can be remodeled to Gold without having to remodel to Silver first.
Map
This menu functions the same as pressing the Minus button to open the Farm Map or pressing the Plus button to open the Town Map.
Relationships
The affection status you have with each Mineral Town resident, Nature Sprite, farm Animals, and household Pets can be found here in the Relationships menu.
The Residents section can be sorted based on friendship (music note) level, by romance (heart) level, or by a default ordered list. The icons next to each portrait icon will light up if you have talked to that person or given them a gift that day. Pressing the A Button when selecting a villager will open a small descriptive profile page about that person.
The seven Nature Sprites also have a friendship level, but within their menu you'll also find their current helper skill levels and how many days are left on the task that you assigned them. The higher the colored skill bars are, the better the sprites are with helping with the farm chores.
The Animals menu is sorted with livestock at the top of the list and poultry/rabbits at the bottom of the list. Each animal will display the number of hearts they have, whether you've talked or fed them that day, and in the case of livestock, if their products have been collected. This list cannot be sorted.
Lastly is the Pets menu. The horse and each of your household pets will be listed here along with their friendship level and whether you've talked or given them a Pet Treat that day. The horse will have an extra icon that indicates if you've brushed them. Below each pet's friendship hearts is their pet skill. The horse's skill bar is its endurance level (i.e., how long it can last running at full speed during the derby races) and the other pets' skill bar is how far they can go when playing flying disc with them at Mineral Beach.
