Saint Seiya: Ougon Densetsu Kanketsu Hen is based on the story arcs "The Sanctuary Arc" and "The Hades Arc," which follow the adventures of a group of Saint warriors wearing sacred armor (Bronze Saints) as they attempt to help Athena. Athena decides to travel to the Sanctuary to meet with Kyoko, but suddenly, Athena is struck in the heart by a golden arrow shot by the Silver Saint Sagittarius Aiolos. The Bronze Saints must break into the 12 temples of the Sanctuary within 12 hours to bring Kyoko for treatment. However, to pass through the 12 Zodiac Temples, they must face the 12 Gold Saints who guard each temple, a task no one has ever accomplished since the days of the mythology.
