Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII tells the story set before the events of Final Fantasy VII, focusing on the character Zack Fair, a high-ranking member of Soldier, the elite military unit of Shinra Electric Power Company, a corporation that controls Mako energy and plays a significant role in the events of Final Fantasy VII. Zack is a 2nd Class Soldier who is part of Shinra's operations. He is determined and dreams of becoming a hero. After receiving orders to carry out a mission in the town of Wutai, he begins to investigate and uncovers deep secrets related to experiments involving the use of Mako energy and the creation of Jenova, a major antagonist in the Final Fantasy VII universe. During his journey, he encounters several characters who play important roles in the main game, such as Cloud Strife (the protagonist of FFVII), Aerith Gainsborough, and Sephiroth (the main antagonist of FFVII). The story also reveals the experiments that took place within Soldier and explores the relationships between Zack, Sephiroth, and Cloud.
