Popuri and Kai are spending some time together by the bench. Popuri complements Kai on how delicious his cooked meals are. The food from his Beach Cafe is like nothing else found in town! Popuri asks how Kai is familiar with styles from other towns. Kai explains that he travels to other villages and picks up a few things here and there, but he honestly doesn't know much. If Kai finds a meal or ingredients he isn't familiar with, he gives them a try to see what he can make. That way, he increases the number of menu items available at his shop. Popuri thinks that Kai is impressive.
Kai explains that he doesn't like the cold, so he is always moving to various warm-season towns. He wonders if she would laugh at him for his reasons for being so mobile. Popuri giggles and asks if perhaps her mom would feel happy too if she ate some of Kai's cooked meals. Kai volunteers to cook some food for Popuri's mom.

Kai tells Popuri how happy he is that her mom enjoyed his cooked meal. Popuri thanks him for keeping his promise. Kai is hopeful that it will help Lillia feel a little better. Popuri is glad that her brother wasn't there at the time, as she expects Rick to be angry at her whe she gets home. Kai isn't too pleased about that.
Suddenly, Rick interrupts their conversation! He scolds Popuri for being at the beach and then starts nagging Kai about being too close to his sister. Popuri stands up to Rick and tells him to stop being angry at Kai, but Rick demands that she return to the poultry store. Popuri tells Rick that he can manage the store by himself! Rick begins to blame Kai for being a bad influence on Popuri, but she stands her ground until Rick backs off.
To calm the situation, Kai suggests that Popuri head home. Her mom is probably worried about her. Popuri complies with Kai's instructions. Before they leave, Rick reminds Kai to say away from Popuri.
