Arc the Lad 2 is connected to the first game, with Arc, the character from the original, still playing an important role at certain points in the story. However, the main character is no longer Arc, but Elc, a young warrior who is determined to seek revenge for the loss of someone he loved. The story begins when he encounters Gizel, the leader of a secret organization who seeks to use the power of "otherworldly creatures" (also known as "Monsters" or "Beasts") to overthrow the world and create a new one under his control.
