Doug
Doug is the owner and caretaker of Doug’s Place, one of the most important locations in Mineral Village. He is Ann’s father and has raised his daughter on his own since his wife passed away, which makes him especially caring and protective toward her. Because of this, his inn is not just a place to eat, but also a social hub where villagers gather to talk and relax in the evenings.
Doug is responsible for preparing most of the food served at the inn. These dishes can restore stamina and reduce fatigue for the player. In addition, his inn is the only place in town with a telephone. After upgrading the farmhouse, the player can use it to order items from the TV Shopping Network.
Doug likes gifts such as bamboo shoots, fish, and mushrooms, but dislikes flowers, ores, and wool. His birthday is on the 11th of Winter. He is involved in several important events, including “Doug’s Sorrow (Memories),” where he stands on the summit of Mother’s Hill to remember his late wife, and the Apple Pie Event, in which he gives the player an apple pie to deliver to Ellen.
Doug and Ann are also considered strong contenders in the Cooking Festival. Building a good relationship with Doug can be done by giving him gifts he likes and participating in events related to him, which helps reveal his emotional depth and the warmth of his family story in Harvest Moon: Back to Nature.
