I like El as a magic user. He gains lots of MP and has good magic defense and he's very easy to level up thanks to his Magic shield spell. His Air Bolt 4 inflicts ultimate damage in enemies with low L defense. El can also help you a lot against magic enemies. Not by hitting them: protecting your units from them. For example, an Air Bolt 4 can easily kill Shishimaru, or a Quadra Slice may kill anyone with low defense. El's Magic Shield can protect your units and reduce the damage to 0!... But sometimes it fails, rarely, but it happens.
